Life is Made of Great Moments

As read in the "The Next Level" ezine from Anthony Robbins:

==============================

A Great Moment Wrapped in Kindness

Twenty years ago, I drove a cab for a living. One early morning, when I arrived at 2:30 a.m. for a pick-up, the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window. Under these circumstances, many drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, and then drive away.

But I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation. Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door. ‘This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance,’ I reasoned to myself.

So I walked to the door and knocked. “Just a minute,” answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 80s stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie.

By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

“Would you carry my bag out to the car?” she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.

She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness. “It's nothing,” I told her. “I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated.”

“Oh, you’re such a good boy,” she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address, and then asked, “Could you drive through downtown?”

“It’s not the shortest way,” I answered quickly.

“Oh, I don’t mind,” she said. “I’m in no hurry. I’m on my way to a hospice.”

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. “I don’t have any family left,” she continued. “The doctor says I don’t have very long.” I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.

“What route would you like me to take?” I asked. For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she’d ask me to go slow in front of a particular building or corner, and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, “I’m tired. Let’s go now.”

We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her. I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

“How much do I owe you?” she asked, reaching into her purse.

“Nothing,” I said.

“You have to make a living,” she answered. “There are other passengers,” I responded. Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly.

“You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,” she said. “Thank you.”

I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.

I didn’t pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away? On a quick review, I don’t think that I have done anything more important in my life.

We’re conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware, beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

People may not remember exactly what you did, or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel.

Do something nice for a stranger this holiday season. You may get more from it than they will.

=============================

That's it... Do something nice for a stranger. A great moment wrapped around a normal moment.

Are the Gurus Out There to Trick You?

Tracy Yates, a respected and well-known marketer, sent me this text. I regard it as very important, so that's why I'm posting it here--verbatim.

Read it and beware. It's not a sales page, it doesn't try for you to subscribe to anything and it has a very useful link (the second one--look for my comment in brackets)...

============== START OF TRACY TEXT ==================

All right, we've got some serious stuff to cover today, and it ain't
gonna be pretty...

Just yesterday I downloaded a couple of fr.ee reports concerning so
called "Gurus" and how they sc.am people. And, don't worry, I'll
include a link where you can pick up the same materials fr.ee of
charge as well.

My first impression was one of "Hey, that's true!". But then after
further research, I began to question the motives of the actual
report, and also, if some of the things mentioned were factual.
So, I read some more.

What I found out was actually a mixed bag. And, hopefully, some of
what I say today will help you out in the long run.

Okay, so what we have here is a situation in which there is this
report, offered by www.GuruScam.com [JPP: this is the first link,
that's not that very useful in terms of business, but is the base on
what this text and the second link are on], that tells about all this seedy,
underhanded tactical manipulation used by some of the more
wealthy Internet Marketers labeled either by their own
selves, or others, as "Gurus".

What I can tell you after reading it is that YES, many of the things
stated are the TRUTH. But, were they stated accurately? Or without an
underlying agenda? That becomes the problem.

That raised a very serious question by others that also read the
report. . .Was this a sneaky tactic to create a new income stream for
the author? Or used to bring them more undercover "fame" thereby
creating more success in their online biz?

Really good questions.

I can tell you from my own experience that indeed using fear combined
with a controversial subject is one method often used when selling
products online. I know it is. And, I've even written about this
"dirty trick" myself( yes, I did just name drop my own product).

More than once actually.

But, you'd probably never know that I wrote it. Most people don't.
And there's a good reason for that. Because it's the TRUTH. And
that's exactly what people are most afraid of. The TRUTH. Which is
probably WHY you haven't heard about it, or at least, the REAL person
behind it.

However, I did NOT hide my name. Anyone that does a search will find
this out. And I'm 100% PROUD of these products for revealing what
most successful Marketers DON'T want YOU to know.

Back to the GuruS.cam report...

In it, the author, and I won't reveal his name here out of respect,
and if you want to find out who is behind it is easy enough to do,
states that his work is going to piss off mid-range Marketers that
believe in all these self-proclaimed "Gurus". And that they would
dismiss his claims completely.

Guess what?

That actually DID happen! But, was it the author telling the TRUTH,
or was it merely a "slight of hand"? Meaning, did he already know
what type of response his report would illicit from the general
Internet Marketing community beforehand? Hmm. Who knows for sure?
What is known is that this turned into a very heated discussion
inside the Warrior Forum. Three pages worth of responses in fact.

How did I view the report? Well, two sided really.

On the one hand, I know that the truth is being presented.

For example. . .

The fact that many Internet Marketers that come out with a really,
and I mean REALLY, good pro.duct who are basically "nobodies" get
noticed, BIG TIME. Then, when their next pro.duct launch comes out,
it's subservient to the first product. But, they still earn lots of
money from it.

Why?

Because the initial product that got them "noticed" by the bigger
players, a.k.a. - the "Gurus", have now positioned them to do cash
sucking Joint Ventures with the "big dogs". So, they rush to put
together the "next big thing", a.k.a. - the "trend".

Valid point. And TRUE.

Next, the way that we're told that if we don't plunk down almost a
grand for this "life changing", or for lack of a better phrase,
"income changing" product, we'll be hating ourselves for inactivity
for years to come.

Yep. This is definitely used. Hell, I even use this one myself at
times. And, I've even wrote about it in my aforementioned "dirty
tricks" ebook series.

The important thing you MUST realize is as bus.iness people, WE DO
WHAT WE'RE TAUGHT. And if we're taught wrong, well, you can imagine
the outcome. But, we also have to follow the things that WORK. So, in
this case, many of the underhanded, sneaky tactics used DO just that,
which is, right or wrong, why they are used to begin with.

And finally, the author brings up the fact that the "Gurus" don't
really care about the "little guys". Actually, without the "little
guys" hanging on their every word, or pro.duct launches, they're SUNK
COMPLETELY.

That is SO TRUE!

Think about it. What happens if we DON'T do what we're programmed to
do? What if we finally WAKE UP from their well spun dreams of easy
wealth?

Honestly, I believe the entire idea behind the report was to instill
TRUST in people who have been taken by other, bigger, more connected
Internet Marketers. And, by gaining this trust by associating with
those terrible feelings of being "suckered", the author now has a
powerful group behind him. And, it is such a group that he does
indeed KNOW they WILL spe.nd mon.ey on information pro.ducts,
because, he knows they already HAVE. That's how they got "taken" in
the first place. See where I'm going here?

Am I saying that the author is only in this for himself? Certainly
not. No one really KNOWS what his motives are beyond himself and to
make anything more than a personal assumption would be terribly wrong
on my part. I'm only stating things that CAN be, not what ARE. What he
IS offering us is a platform to wake up by thinking for ourselves and
making our own decisions.

Now, after reading this, I really felt a connection with this author.
Truly. But, was still a bit skeptical about some parts of it. So, I
went on a hunt to find out more.

And I did.

I also found another free report dispelling the ideas and facts
brought up from another author. You can download that fr.ee report
from here: http://www.e-bookemporium.us/download/GSS.pdf
[JPP: this is the second link; very good info on it; again, nothing to
sell, just 15 pages of solid advice, point by point] -- make sure
you "Right Click And Sav.e As" on this one please :-)

This report was created to discredit, I believe, the previous
"GuruScam" report. But I felt it failed in that regard. You may
think differently.

It did offer a nice outline of how to begin generating your own
stream of income online. Nothing new or "rocket-sciency" however.
But still, a pretty solid outline nonetheless.

What did I come away with after all this research and reading?

Well, I came away with the feeling that even IF you stood up and said
"Internet Marketing Is A Sham! Avoid It Like The Plague!", only a
handful of people would question what they know. People say they want
to be told the truth, but in reality, not many do. They find more
comfort in the pretty lies they are spoon-fed instead.

I also learned that everyone has some sort of motive behind what they
are doing. Even if it IS giving the raw, honest truth about an idea or
situation. Or in this case, a business model.

What IS that motive?

In a word... money. But, I'm sure you probably already knew that.
Money is a powerful agent that makes us behave in strange ways. We
do things and say things we wouldn't normally do in order to attain
it. I know, I've done it myself, so I'm no "Angel". And I'm sure I'm
not alone in that regard. What is Marketing but attempting to sell?

That's the business we are in my friend.

But, I've also been on the other side of this argument as well and
been taken quite a few times by crappy products that weren't even
worthy enough for me to wipe my backside with. This is the reason I
create my own. But, unlike the "big boys", you won't see my name
mentioned a thousand times over. But, if you ask any of the "big
boys" if they've heard of such and such a product, they'd probably
say yes, but never remember who created it. That would be me. And
maybe even YOU!

With all of the information floating around online, it's hard to
determine facts from fiction. Who's lying? Who's telling the truth?

Unfortunately, we never find that out until it's too late.

One thing is for sure... Whether someone is telling the truth or
not, they are definitely making a profit from it in one way or
another.

Is that wrong? Well, it all depends on the "Hows" involved with that
scenario.

In the end, we can only be accountable for our own actions. And that
is the last thing I came away with by reading GuruScam. My ability
to think for myself and make my own decisions about certain things
going on. And, what will my part be in what's happening?

Will I continue to tell the "ugly" truth? You bet. If I'm asked
something, you had better believe I WILL tell you what I think will
happen. You may not like the answer, but hey, sometimes the truth CAN
hurt. It can also SET YOU FREE.

Until Next Time,

Benevolent Marketing, by Dan Blackburn

This is a letter that Ric Raftis posted in his blog No Bull Internet Marketing. I think this Benevolent Marketing has some meat, so I'm reposting it here:

============================

You have probably heard these words said hundreds of time before, and I bet every time you heard it it was coming from someone who had discovered how to create wealth or said by someone who was talking about someone who had discovered how to create wealth.

So what are “these words”?

Simple…

“In order to receive, first you must give.”

I was first encouraged to adopt this attitude by Mark Hendricks. At first I way skeptical, it seemed ridiculous to me initially, but I soon “got it” and proved that is was true. I started having a lot more success in every thing I did just by making this simple shift in mindset.

In fact, the first time I put this simple “technique” into practice and started sharing my profits with worthy causes, I saw my order rate increase more than ten-fold!

The benefits do not stop at increased sales either. You will find, if you use these techniques, that your subscribers and customers will be more willing to read and respond to your future emails too. It’s like you receive a blessing from what ever force drives the universe and things just become easier for you. If you start out with this attitude.

In the early days when I had a very selfish approach to making money online, I had little success. I would do all the things I am doing now, but the results were some what different. When I mailed an offer out, I was lucky if I made 3 sales and quite frankly it did not seem worth it.

In fact, I do recall sending out a promotion the week before I had my chat with Mark and it completely bombing.. not one sale! I made a tweak, gave 50% direct to Cancer Research and made 268 sales!

I was blown away!
A few months later, I met Jeff Davis, Jeff is becoming well known as a copy writer now, but when I first met him, he was about to throw in the towel. He had been trying for months and had yet to make a single sale of anything.
Jeff contacted me and said… “I saw you were asking for help writing ads for PDF-Power-Brand, here is what I have done for you”.Just out of the blue like that, he turned up and gave me what I was looking for. He didn’t ask for anything in return. We got chatting on Yahoo IM and Jeff told me all about himself, how he damaged his back, lost his job, his home and all about his desperation and struggle to make money on line.
Jeff did not ask me for any money for writing the ads for me, he actually got a little embarrassed when I asked him how much he wanted to write 5 more. So I decided to show Jeff a little gold. I was ready to mail out a promotion, I got him to sign up as an affiliate and I mailed out rotating our links for sign ups together, expecting to generate about 40 sales total).
The next day, Jeff was literally doing cart wheels. 39 sales had appeared in his inbox while he slept! By the end of the week, the promotion had generated almost 400 sales!
This was more than I am used to, definitely above average and I am convinced that sharing the sales with Jeff had something to do with that. Not least because it is what Jeff deserved. I was blessed for opening the door for him and sharing my resource with him. Just as he had unconditionally shared his writing talent with me.
Jeff really needed to make that money then. If he hadn’t, he probably wouldn’t be here helping me now. I get a lot of help from Jeff, we have become good friends. Like I said, increased conversion is not the only benefit you draw by using this technique.
I encourage you to adopt a benevolent attitude to your business efforts.
Don’t set out thinking “How can I make a lot of money”. Instead think, what can I do to improve the environment I live and work in. How can I use my own skills and power to help people?
If you set out with this attitude, I guarantee that the road of progress will be easier for you.

The "World's Greatest Pickup Artist", Marketing and You, by Marlon Sanders

What's the relation between the "Greatest Pickup Artist", Marketing and you? Read the following article by marketing guru Marlon Sanders and find out. You'll also learn one or two thing about picking up someone for a date tonight :-)

_____________________

So there he is.

They call him "the world’s greatest pick up artist." He’s wearing this crazy, tall, funky top hat like a magician. He has odd jewelry on. And he’s teaching guys how to "pick up women."

It’s a show on in the U.S. Where the man named "Mystery" takes a group of dateless, desperate guys and teaches them how to meet women.

It’s fascinating in that he has his own world and own set of terminology. Things like DHV’s, which stands for "Demonstration of Higher Value." Then there are OIO’s, which are indicators of interest and IOD’s, indicators of disinterest.

And the lingo goes on. You can see video of him on VH1.com. Just search for "pick up artist."

What’s totally and completely bizarre to me is how much of what he says applies to Internet marketing. I’m going to zero in on one of those things — demonstrations of higher value. Let’s start with "the pickup artist" TV show to begin with. It probably wouldn’t exist unless a book called "The Game" hit bookstores bigtime and demonstrated the value of the concept. Mystery was the featured character in the book. And that likely had a major impact on him being the featured character in the TV show.

Next, in "The Mystery Method," he has his guys wear clothes or articles of clothing that are unique and stand out. One reason is so they have a conversation piece. The other is to increase their social value.

Point: Your packaging or design of your products and web site signals or demontrates the value you have.

Another thing Mystery has his guys do on the TV show is "social proof" themselves by being seen with attractive people. So a guy might invite along an attractive woman some place to help him meet someone else. By implication, he has high social value if he’s seen with someone perceived as attractive.

In short, social proof. Social proof in marketing would be having articles published in directories, speaking at seminars, testimonials, showing that you hang out with popular influencers, and so forth.

Then, there is scarcity — not looking so "available." By implication, if you’re in demand, that’s a demonstration of your value. And if you’re NOT in demand, then it’s a demonstration of low social value. DLV.

Anyway, I could go on and on drawing parallels.

And the point I want to make today is that you may already know a lot about marketing that you don’t know you know.

Why? Because if you have a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, you probably used some or all of the above techniques without realizing it.

Signalling value or demonstrating value for your product or service is largely FREE. It costs you NOTHING to do but has a major impact on whether or not people buy from you.

And chances are, you’ve already demonstrated a skill in doing this in an area of your life in the past.

People buy based on benefits - costs. And increasing the benefits part of the equation is as simple as demonstrating or signalling higher value.

Treating a Rude Customer

I founds this story on the "Laughter is the Best Medicine" blog. It really shows how the correct attitude can save the day. Read on:

An award should go to the gate attendant at Luqa airport. A crowded Malta-London flight was cancelled. She was the lone attendant in charge of re-booking a long line of inconvenienced travelers. Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket down on the counter and said, "I HAVE to be on this flight and it HAS to be FIRST CLASS".

The attendant replied, "I'm sorry sir. I'll be happy to try to help you, but I've got to help these people first, and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out." The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?"

Without hesitating, the attendant smiled and grabbed her public address microphone: May I have your attention please? May I have your attention please?" she began. With her voice being heard clearly throughout the terminal, she said, "We have a passenger here at Gate 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to Gate 14."

With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the attendant, gritted his teeth and said, "F*** you!" Without flinching, she smiled and said, "I'm sorry, sir, but you'll have to get in line for that too."

=======================

I hope that, besides a laughter, you got a valuable lesson on marketing and treating the client correctly (of course, the waiting customers, not the angry one, who definitively, got his treatment OK...).

Free Hugs Campaign

Do you know that September 10 is the International Official Day of Hugs?

But, don't wait to hug somebody today! He or she can be anybody... a family member, your significant other and, of course, a total stranger.

Watch this video:

Sometimes, a hug is all what we need.

Free hugs is a real life controversial story of Juan Mann, A man whose sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger to brighten up their lives. In this age of social disconnectivity and lack of human contact, the effects of the Free Hugs campaign became phenomenal.

As this symbol of human hope spread accross the city in Australia, police and officials ordered the Free Hugs campaign BANNED.

What we then witness is the true spirit of humanity come together in what can only be described as awe inspiring.

In the Spirit of the free hugs campaign, PASS THIS TO A FRIEND and HUG A STRANGER!

After all, If you can reach just one person, you will move the world!

Life Problems and Life Mysteries

I found this blog entry "Encounter with Mr. God" by Mahesh Kumar in his blog Stithaprajyna (whatever that means...)

Although, by its title, you could think it's a religious post, it's a lot more and it really answers some questions about life and its mysteries and problems.

Enjoy...

=======================

God: Hello. Did you call me?

Me: Called you? No. Who is this?

God: This is GOD. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.

Me: I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now. I am in the midst of something.

God: What are you busy at? Ants are busy too.

Me: Don't know. But I can't find free time. Life has become hectic. It's rush hour all the time.

God: Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.

Me: I understand. But I still can't figure out. By the way, I was not expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.

God: Well I wanted to resolve your fight for time, by giving you some clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.

Me: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?

God: Stop analyzing life. Just live it. Analysis is what makes it complicated.

Me: Why are we then constantly unhappy?

God: Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You are worrying because you are analyzing. Worrying has become your habit. That's why you are not happy.

Me: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?

God: Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.

Me: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty.

God: Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.

Me: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?

God: Diamonds cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don't suffer. With that experience their life become better not bitter.

Me: You mean to say such experience is useful?

God: Yes. In every term, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.

Me: But still, why should we go through such tests? Why can't we be free from problems?

God: Problems are Purposeful Roadblocks Offering Beneficial Lessons (to) Enhance Mental Strength. Inner strength comes from struggle and endurance, not when you are free from problems.

Me: Frankly in the midst of so many problems, we don't know where we are heading.

God: If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Looking outside, you dream. Looking inside, you awaken. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides insight.

Me: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving in the right direction. What should I do?

God: Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you. Knowing the road ahead is more satisfying than knowing you rode ahead. You work with the compass. Let others work with the clock.

Me: In tough times, how do you stay motivated?

God: Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.

Me: What surprises you about people?

God: When they suffer they ask, "why me? When they prosper, they never ask "Why me" Everyone wishes to have truth on their side, but few want to be on the side of the truth.

Me: Sometimes I ask, who I am, why am I here. I can't get the answer.

God: Seek not to find who you are, but to determine who you want to be. Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here. Create it. Life is not a process of discovery but a process of creation.

Me: How can I get the best out of life?

God: Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.

Me: One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.

God: There are no unanswered prayers. At times the answer is NO.

Me: Thank you for this wonderful chat. I am so happy to start the day with a new sense of inspiration.

God: Well. Keep the faith and drop the fear. Don't believe your doubts and doubt your beliefs. Life is a mystery to solve not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live.

Viacom Sues YouTube, Google Over Copyright Infringement

NEW YORK – Viacom has filed a lawsuit against popular video sharing Web site YouTube and its parent company, Google, for more than $1 billion in damages for alleged widespread copyright infringement. The suit, filed on March 13, claims that YouTube has displayed nearly 160,000 unauthorized video clips from its cable networks, including MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon.

Viacom had warned YouTube nearly six weeks ago to remove its programming from YouTube’s Web site, but YouTube didn’t meet Viacom’s standards. When checking the progress of the purge, Viacom noticed that 50,000 additional clips were added to YouTube’s site, according to Viacom spokesman Jeremy Zweig.

In a statement, Viacom lashed out at YouTube’s business practices, citing that YouTube has “built a lucrative business out of exploiting the devotion of fans to others’ creative works in order to enrich itself and its corporate parent Google.” Furthermore, Viacom contended that YouTube’s business model, “which is based on building traffic and selling advertising off of unlicensed content, is clearly illegal and is in obvious conflict with copyright laws.”

The nature of the uploaded clips feature some programming that may not be suitable for all audiences. Segments from shows including “The Colbert Report,” The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” and “South Park” are aimed at audiences older than the average age of a YouTube user.

During the past two years, YouTube has been the center of media quandaries – with advertisers wondering if a site displaying user-uploaded clips will lure away viewers and advertising dollars from broadcast and cable television. Several companies have already joined in partnerships with YouTube in hopes of receiving compensation for legally uploading content, including CBS and NBC Universal.

7 Common Mistakes of Webmarketers

1. You Only Advertise Other People's Programs and Webpages

If you have joined an Affiliate Program or a Network Marketing Program (MLM), you would know they give you a website address, which might even have your name mentioned on the front page. Don't even think of just advertising this page.

Think about it for a moment. If you just advertise your referral page, what happens to the traffic you create? Most people don't buy on their first visit, but they might submit their name and email address to get free information. When they do you are creating leads for the owners of the program you are promoting and very often you won't even know it. They would have been your leads if you had sent them to your own website instead of your referral page.

Why would you spend all your energy promoting someone else? Not only are you paying them a monthly fee, you are promoting THEIR name all over the place. They get more and more well known as tens of thousands of people promote their name, whether you are successful or not.

The simple solution? Promote yourself. If you don't want your name up in lights, promote your company name. If you don't have a company name, make one up. Don't hesitate or put this off. It is really not very hard. Just make sure it sounds professional and/or appropriate.

2. You Don't Have a Product of your own that People Want

The most cost efficient product you can have is information. People want information that will provide them with some sort of benefit. And the best part is that information products allow your business to be completely automated with instant delivery (download or online access) and no shipping costs.

Your information product doesn't have to be a 200 page ebook that you sell for $50. It can be something as simple as a report (like this one) that you give away freely to anyone who enters their email address in a form on your website. Then, after they have given you their email address, you can follow up with them and introduce them to any Affiliate, MLM or Network Marketing programs of your choice.

The main requirement is that you provide people with some form of value - and don't just try to sell them. Give them valuable information when they opt in, and make sure the opportunities you introduce them to in your follow-up will give THEM the chance to be successful as well. People are placing a level of trust in you by registering their e-mail address. Do not abuse their trust.

3. You Don't Have your own Website

There is no easy way around it. You MUST have your own site if you are going to succeed easily, or you'll find yourself struggling like crazy just to break even, like over 90% without their own website are doing.

I don't mean one of the sites the different programs offer you with your monthly fee. I mean a site that is promoting "YOU".

This way YOU will be the one that benefits from your marketing efforts. You will build YOUR OWN list of interested leads. They opt in to receive information from YOU!

Do you see the difference? Even if they don't end up buying the first thing you are promoting, they might buy what you are going to offer them next. They have opted in to YOUR LIST, which means that you can follow up with them again and again.

You won't have that chance if you just send them to a referral page for a specific program instead of promoting your own website. You only send them to a referral page AFTER they have opted in on YOUR website.

NOTE: It is important to have a number of income producing programs or products to promote. Sure, only offer one thing at a time to avoid confusion, but don't limit your potential income. If you have only one program or product to offer, then what are you going to do about the people on your list who don't want that specific program or product? They are never going to pay you any money if you don't find something else to offer them. That's a lot of potential profit you are missing out on. You'll find some of the best income producing programs in this package.

4. You Don't Have a Follow-up System

You are wasting most of your advertising effort if you let people visit your website and then just let them leave without giving you their email address.

It is a fact of life that most people do not buy on their first visit to a website. Marketing studies show that most sales are made AFTER at least 7 follow-ups to your potential customers, and even after 10 follow-ups you still get sales. You can get up to 75% of your sign-ups after the seventh contact.

So, what you need is a hassle free way to capture their email address and send it directly into an automated follow-up system. In a moment, when you get to the next part of this information, we will show you how easy it will be for you to set this up and get it to work for you.

5. You Don't Have your own e-Mail List

Your list is your most important asset. All the money you'll ever make in this business will come from your list. It is the same for any business. Their customers and potential customers are their most valued assets. Because that's where the money is.

Sending your email offers to your own list is by far the most effective way to advertise - and it's completely free.

That's why your first priority should be building your list. You are not trying to sell them anything yet. You just want their email address and then, when you have their permission, you can send them one email ad after another for as long as it takes to get them to sign up or buy.

Now, as a customer, they are entitled to receive extra value and assistance from you - and extra offers, of course. If you treat your customers well and provide real value they will buy from you again and again.

"The money is in the list!" as every successful marketer will tell you, and now you can start building your own list.

6. You Don't Help your Sign-ups to be Active and Successful

Network Marketing and Affiliate Marketing are offering the most incredible income earning potential you will find anywhere on the Internet. But it is also the most widely criticised. How can this be?

So many people join a program, and don't really do any marketing at all. They just wait for spillover from "Other People", or they don't know what to do and commit all the deadly sins of Internet Marketing listed here.

That gives you a real problem, because if they don't personally sign up anybody and you can't offer them anything that would help them, then you'll have to do all the work for them.

To illustrate the problem let's use the 5x5 matrix as an example. Most people like the "realistic idea" of filling their 3rd level which will often give them an income of about $2000 per month. Lets say you are relatively successful and do recruit your 155 people - 5 on your first level, 25 on your second level and 125 on your third level.

Here's the problem: If you don't have a successful business building system to give them that they can use to get sign ups, there is a good chance that NONE of those 155 people will ever recruit anybody. They either don't do anything or they do everything wrong.

That leaves you with 125 people on your 3rd level waiting for their spillover. So you need to recruit another 625 just so your 3rd level doesn't drop out, then quickly recruit 3000 to keep them happy. You can see how the mathematics of this shows a real problem.

If you can't provide spillover for your sign-ups and they can't recruit, they will drop out quicker than you can replace them. So your only solution is to give them a SYSTEM that will enable them to do their own recruiting and duplicate your success.

7. You Suffer from Paralysis by Analysis

There is an absolute Mountain of information available in this business. Every turn you take, there is yet another ebook to buy or get for free. Then there are all the "guru" sites that want to charge you between $20 and $100 per month to get access to all the latest and greatest information.

Stop wasting your time! Sure, you have to build up your level of knowledge but you must know when to stop and actually DO SOMETHING. Don't keep putting it off... or even worse, don't take the "easy" way out and join a couple of affiliate programs or MLMs and advertise the page they give you. Many people fall for this. They keep thinking "I will just get some money from these programs, THEN, I will put my own site up."

Well, in most cases, IT NEVER HAPPENS. They spend all their time advertising these sites, trying to learn more information, sometimes even spend lots of time in discussion forums, but never actually do what they should have done first...

GET YOUR MARKETING SYSTEM IN PLACE FIRST! If you just advertise the programs you are joining without having your own website and your own automated business building system you are fighting a losing battle.

Look at the FACTS:
  • Over 90% of people trying to make money on the Internet never make a profit
  • These people losing money on the Internet do NOT have their own marketing website
  • Almost ALL of the people who actally make money on the Internet HAVE their own website
  • The Top Earners in MLM and Network Marketing are using an Automated Online Business Building System

SUCCESS REWARDS ACTION

If you've been working yourself to the bones not getting any closer to the results you dreamed of when you started out, change your approach now. "If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always got."

Personal Branding = Marketing Branding

Personal branding gets you there (wherever you want to go) faster and better…

One micro-example: I told my 15-year-old son that wearing the same clothes all his peers wear is not exactly standing out (he is not branding himself, in our terms…), so he is not going to be easily remembered by the girl he likes — and to whom he yet has to develop the courage to talk :)

So, he listened (!) and started to wear different dress shirts to school, than the same old t-shirts he used to wear.

And, the girl took notice of the change!

Branding? Sure, in a small scale, but branding nonetheless…

Is Happiness a Personal Choice?

Yes, happiness is a choice, but unfortunately nobody is teaching –or probably just don’t know either– how to make and take that choice.

A lot of it is missing in the mumba-jumba of the self-development articles and books and generally discarded as a fast-easy-useless advice. Just like the song: “Don’t worry, be happy”.

But in reality, happiness is still a choice.

We need to be taught and trained about it. And, like every other personally satisfying habit, need to be worked on on a daily basis.

At least, the released beta-endorphins will be great!

What do Web 2.0 and porn sites have in common...

There has been a great deal of attention to this thing that is being called Web 2.0 and the social websites...

In several blogs I've seen that they are wondering what is the marketing plan for this sites. From where do the money is going to come?

I think that all Web 2.0 and the so-called social sites are not being developed to earn money at the beginning. On the contrary: following a sound marketing and business principle, they are developing first the market and then they will sell something to them (whatever needs the market develops).

As a marketer, you have two options (being this the very basic concept) to have prospects to buy from you: either a) you enter a market with the need for what you market or b) you develop the market first and then start marketing.

Web 2.0 was not developed in the first place as a marketing ploy or because some big corporations deemed it plausible... Social sites started as a need from the very core of users (in a similar sense as the www itself got developed): first the public started it, then the marketers came.

Well, really before the marketers, the porn industry was there. Wanna see where do the opportunities are? Check what the people are doing to get their dose of porn! A little down the road, the marketers of other areas are going to start using their techniques and developments.

Those are my 1.99 cents...
